The company was started in 1966 by Mr Cyril Chambers, who was a lorry driver during the week and hired Wedding cars out at weekends. A mini bus was purchased to transport wedding guests, and never one to sit idle, won a contract for the mini bus during the week. The lorry driving job went and Chambers Coaches was started. A second newer, bigger minibus was purchased and then another and so on and over the years the fleet has grown to 26 vehicles. Cyril's wife Stella was a passenger assistant and run the office in between times. As the business grew son Martin joined his dad working at the garage in 1977, and daughter Debra joined her mother in the office in 1995, the family business was complete.
After the sad deaths of both parents, control of the company has passed to Martin and Debra, who have continued the philosophy of the business further adapting to the rapidly changing markets and quick to take on the new challenges and opportunities.
